You’re Creatively Bankrupt and Don’t Know the Lore

So I made a post after seeing someone going off on how they didn’t like how someone was playing a race and class combination and how they prided themselves off of being an ‘RP Elitist’ (which is still a fucking joke). First off, sorry for the long-winded nerd rage but the whole ordeal left a bad taste in my mouth and I’ll never understand why people make such a huge fucking deal about that shit.

It started off by them making a broadcast of wanting to kill a flagged worgen player who played an archdruid, which went on a long tirade about how “people just shit on the lore”. The irony about this was that this person was saying that Kul Tirans druids weren’t real druids and that he’d refuse to see or recognize them as such. I pointed it out to him that this is exactly what happened with tauren and the sunwalkers. People said that they didn’t make sense even when Blizzard added them to the lore, but over time things felt more accepted.

“Does it sound good to you that tauren paladins, a class combo that didn’t exist at first, is added to the game and justified with new lore?”
“Yes.”
“Cool, not replace that with Kul Tiran Druid.”
“lol no.“

If you pride yourself off of being a “lore-abiding RPer” yet refuse to acknowledge the new lore added, that is essentially lore breaking and accusing others of it is hypocritical and shitty. There was also backpeddling on the whole exclusivity of the Archdruid title and how only certain races should be allowed to be druids at all. Fun fact: A SATYR was an archdruid and led the Emerald Circle. I’m pretty sure if a demon can infiltrate the Cenarion Circle and lead one of its sects in secret, the list of who can and can’t be a druid is really small.

I brought up how Nightborne could possibly be druids. Look at High Botanist Tel’arn from Nighthold and look at his solar and nature spells. You know who else is a High Botanist? Freywinn from Botanica. Know what he can do? Use tree form and tranquility. Druid spells.  But no, no, they aren’t druids apparently.

The lore changes. If you can’t adapt to it but want to shit on people who do, move on to another game. You can make up so many class combos that don’t exist and make them work. A good friend of mine plays a tauren mage. I have an undead druid that focuses on decaying life, and an orc I’ve styled as a paladin. People will go on and on that “playing in the sandbox given to you is a better form of writing”.

Screw that. Let people be creative and try out new things. Unless Blizzard says that something is outright impossible, then whatever, but until then, I’m going to play whatever the hell I want. Call yourself a better roleplayer or part of the “elite”. People who are judgemental pricks like my shit at the very least.

good post OP

I would like to add, that even if someone wants to RP something that’s blatantly lore-breaking, they have a right to do so and experience the game in any form they wish.

I don’t care if they’re a half-elf half-mermaid princess neko cat girl with 17 pet dragons who is the long lost sister of Arthas and married to King Varian. If that bothers you, you’re not obligated to RP with them or include them in your RP and vice versa. It does absolutely zero (0) harm. And no, your “immersion” doesn’t count.

You know what does do actual harm, though? Harassing them, bullying them, targeting them, blowing them up on social media, whispering nasty things to them, insulting them, mocking them and all around being a complete shit-person. Keep in mind the vast majority of people who go through these phases of writing are usually children and teenagers, and they have every right to grow as a writer in a friendly community as you do.

Sylvanas Rant

I want to like Sylvanas. I really do. I normally love villains especially if they have a gothic theme a about them. Plus, I love archery. A gothic themed undead archer with villainous tendencies? In theory, Sylvanas should be everything I could ever dream or ask for. But that’s not the case. I want to like Sylvanas, I really do, but she is so unbelievably bland and badly handled.

Sylvanas is possibly one of the weakest and least dynamic major lore characters of the Warcraft franchise, and it is a WASTE. I want to say they would take this opportunity in BfA to rectify it and give her actual growth as a character but given their track record, that’s probably not going to happen.

Sylvanas has been put time and time again in what should be character developing events, but she has nothing to show for it. She has shown no growth, and doesn’t doesn’t learn or change throughout WoW. Not even the events of Wrath of the effing LICH KING did anything for her character. She got like one short story about it and a quest, I think? That entire expansion following Sylvanas just screamed wasted opportunity. She’s still the same bland two dimensional character she was since Vanilla trying to give the illusion of being a three dimensional character. It’s frustrating. The only time I’ve ever seen her display actual growth was in WCIII. God I miss WCIII Sylvanas.

Her entire character really just feels so shallow. Like she relies mostly on her gothic themed aesthetic, PTSD and the occasional sneer for a personality. Even when she’s shown in the books or comics to have some thoughts and emotions that show some sign that she’s capable of thinking beyond herself, she never expresses it or shares those thoughts with another which means that they just exist in a vacuum playing absolutely no part in her actual story except to pry some artificial sympathy from the reader. It begs the question, if Sylvanas has a sympathetic thought, but no one is around to hear it, did it really happen? You could take all of those moments out of her entire story and absolutely nothing would change. It makes her seem robotic. Like a one-track mind she’s not capable of venturing beyond.

Now they have the opportunity to make her a compelling villain but the development seems to be surrounding Nathanos of all freaking people, and given how they absolutely wasted her potential in Wrath which was supposed to be a golden opportunity to develop her, I’m afraid they’re just going to axe her like Vol’jin and Garrosh.

Okay, so it’s a helium balloon tied to a jug of gasoline and weighed down with a rock, and it seems to serve no other purpose than to spill gas everywhere. Can a goblin RPer please explain this? What is its purpose? Why? I don’t understand! WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DEVICE?! @sarcoptid , you like goblins. Do you know?!
