To Alliance players, please let Horde players continue to play their Horde toons and let them try to enjoy their game experience to the best of their abilities. It is not their fault they were forced into this horrible villain plot. Don’t be weird.

To Horde players, do not mock and laugh at Alliance players being upset over what is supposed to be a serious story event and happily proclaim joy over what is in game and out of game a hideous crime and act of hatred. Don’t be weird.

To myself, don’t forget to take the garbage out tonight, the trucks come by tomorrow morning, you don’t want a stinky apartment. Don’t be smelly.

Some very good advice in this video on how to handle criticism.  In particular, how to handle it when someone suggests your work has elements which are offensive.

That particular bit of advice begins at 12:10, in case my timestamp doesn’t work.  But to sum up:

  • Assume that the critic has the best of intentions
  • Don’t become defensive or lash out
  • Be open to hearing what they have to say
  • Acknowledge any hurt that may have occurred
  • Resolve to be more conscientious going forward

And I think most importantly — criticism of your work is not a personal attack.
