I absolutely adore the incredibly cheesy tone of Overwatch’s heroism in the animated shorts. I love the vibrant and boisterous colours, the Pixar-like aesthetic, this story about the need for heroes to return to a world that has changed them and they’re trying their best to do good.
It’s so refreshing to see something that stands out as being light-hearted and fun (and also has layers of depth), rather than the influx in Shocking™
and Edgy™
fiction we’ve seen over the last few years.
Overwatch’s candid disregard for that on every possible level gives me strength. It owns its silliness in a way I find really endearing.
