I was 39 by the time I finished my Ph.D. It doesn’t matter how old you are — if you want something, there’s no statute of limitations on pursuing it.

Aomawa Shields talks about changing careers and what it’s like to be a classically trained actress and an astronomer:
“I used to
feel like an actor around scientists and a scientist around actors. But
now I know where I belong. Because once you’ve made that connection to
the universe, there’s no going back. I should know—wherever I went,
whenever I looked up at those burning stars bright in the night sky, I
had no doubt: They were mine.”
